All modern cars have electronic dashboards with digital
odometer displays. The car manufacturers use these because they are cheaper to produce than a mechanical dashboard.
they are also easier to fit into the car as there is no mechanical speedometer cable. This new technology has its own set of
problems though. Electrical pulses in the cars wiring can cause the dashboard data, which is stored internally
on an EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory) to become corrupted.
This corruption could happen for a number of reasons:
The battery on yout vehicle has become discharged and
you were forced to jump started it.
The dashboard may have develop an internal electrical
fault
The dashboard may be damaged in a road accident or through
an act of vandalism.
In these examples, the corruption of the information
held in the EEPROM may mean that the mileage displayed on the odometer is now incorrect.
Dashboard correction may also be necessary where a replacement
cluster has been purchased, either new or second hand. If it's a new one it will have zero miles on it. If it's
a second hand one the reading displayed is also likely to be different to the original therefore requiring correction.

What is mileage re-calibration
Recalibration becomes necessary when the instrument dials
on your dashboard malfunction. For example, the fuel gauge may be showing 1/4 full after you have filled the vehicle
up, or it may even stop working altogether.
This can also happen to other gauges and dials. On the
other hand, you may wish to have the odometer changed from mileage display to kilometre display
or vice versa.
That's where we can help by electronically recalibrating
the dashboard to either restore faulty gauges and dials, or to change miles to KM and vice versa.
